Impacts of dressing on the Productivity

To conclude my all overviews on the 'dressing for the success in the workplace', I will discuss some impacts of the dressing on the productivity level.

(Realmenrealstyle.com,2016): http://www.realmenrealstyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Being-Well-Groomed-Affects-Productivity-745x251.jpg

White-Collar Appearance: It means workers in the workplaces like to work with people who wear professional clothes. It is clear and natural. If everyone does so, it directly leads to one's and overall workplace's productivity.

Shows Systemization:  Proper and well-designed dressing show that you are organized. For example, if a person is spic and span, it automatically shows that person is ready to put extra efforts.

Affects Reputation: Most of us have brain-worm that we judged on the basis of skills and performance. To tell the truth, appearance is firstly noticed and preferred. It doesn't mean that fancy clothes are needed. Instead of it, just follow and wear the professional clothes according to the job (Jaron,2013).

I conducted the last month's dressing survey of my workplace, where i work as a cashier. It shows that how my colleagues follow the dressing policy. Our store manager took strict action for that who does not follow the dressing rules and regulations. I think it is a good idea to conduct surveys, necessary to check the business's productivity.

Dress and Grooming for Job Success

Approximately 80% people consider that 'skills and abilities' are more important to get a job. Yes, it is true that one cannot perform well without it for the overall productivity of the workplace. But one should not forget that 'good appearance' should be the must. Moreover, there are not specific rules for dressing, but location and time should be preferred while getting ready for the job (Columbustech,n.d).
(Kcc102.BlogSpot,2016)

                      http://kccc102.blogspot.ca/2016/01/dressforsuccess.html
There are some basic dressing guidelines for the continuous readers to my blog:

  • A suit should be in basic color.
  • Gums and candies should be avoided.
  • Hair, face, and teeth should be neat and clean.
  • Body language should be good.
  • Fingernails should be cut.
  • 'Wear minimum jewelry'.
Above guidelines should be followed as most of the employers examine just in seven seconds.(Columbustech,pn.d).

Do's and Don'ts in Grooming:

Do's:

  • Try to use natural color eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks.
  • Try to use a neutral color for hair-dying.
  • Try to wear the same bun or another hairstyle that you use every day(e.g.- as I do every day for my work).
  • Try to use different kinds of hair accessories-pins,hairbands and clips.
  • Try to wear decent jewelry according to the type of clothing.
  • Try to wear attires with the consideration of the type of work,as I already discuss earlier.
  • Try to wear different shoe style with different color.
  • Try to maintain trimmed and short nails.
Don'ts:

  • Avoid bright-color make-up.
  • Avoid highlighting features in a multi-color.
  • Avoid rainbow dying style.
  • Avoid wearing bulky and funky type of jewelry.
  • Avoid very short clothes(i.e. "reveal your skin").
  • Avoid open-toed shoes, mostly not allowed.
  • Avoid long-nails especially with nail-art(Gill,2015).

In short, it doesn't mean that one should compromise their own choice of wearing and style. But they could make a balance between their own choice and workplace dressing policies. My one of the friend, who is very crazy to wear stylish clothes, but her job's dressing policies do not allow her to wear stylish clothes. Still, she always tries to balance both things.

Why do Celebrities influence our Style of dress?

Now, I will discuss some basic reasons that why successful people like to wear the same kind of clothes every day.

(google,2016)

There is no doubt that everyone, from child to old, spends a lot of time to choose dresses every day. It is simply wastage of precious time and money for thoughtless things.but still successful people, like Barack Obama, Steve Job use the formula of wearing the same dress regularly. It doesn't mean that they are very money-minded,but there is a logic behind it.

  • (video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0gY8eV8KV8
There are few convincing reasons that are enough to understand the wearing style of successful personalities.  First and foremost reason is "Fewer decisions"- this means collapsing quality of decisions after spending a long time on a frivolous decision. For the successful people, dismissal of even one especially clothing- choice leads to peace of mind, clear conscience and increase in productivity. As Barack says, "You'll see I wear only gray or blue suits. I'm trying to pare down decisions. I don't want to make decisions about what I'm eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make." For example, I usually spend an hour to get ready just for college. Then I start imagine that how much time I will take for my first job interview( so meaningless and wastage of time).

Second is "less stressful"- mostly people in the morning get stressed, even though they get ready, they usually spend time in the front of a mirror and ask questions, for e.g., is this dress looking beautiful, short or color of the dress is good?( foolish and meaningless questions).

"Feeling put together, fewer expenses and iconic" are other reasons and benefits of "capsule Wardrobe" that makes people successful in their career. For example, our schools are the best place to learn about dressing in the childhood, where every student wear the same uniform that shows equality among them(Becker,2015).

In the conclusion, after adopting these basic principles of dressing in the workplace makes people less stressed, more productive, successful and fulfilled.

Readers, tell me how much time you spend to get ready for the job.

To Get a Job, Dressing For Interview Is A first step

(Google,n.d)

To continue my writing on dressing for the workplace, dressing for the job interview is a must and it is the first step for success. Everyone gets confused when they are choosing dresses to get ready usually for their first interview. It is true that the first impression is noticed from your dress by the interviewer and shows if the person taking the interview is serious and respectful. Moreover, it will be an encouragement to build self-confidence.

In the workplace, the way of dressing is very important as our colleagues build a picture in their mind by looking on our dresses without noticing our knowledge or intelligence level. For example,if an interviewee wears a clean, neat and professional clothes, then the professional dress implants confidence in them (Obispo,2016).

There are some tips to follow for dressing to make a positive

impact at the time of interview. First of all, it depends on the type

of job and then one could spend some time on the internet to grab
information about the company or workplace dressing policies to
choose appropriate outfits. If a person is still not sure, then he/she should call the HR department of the company and take recommendations on the best and suitable outfits for the interview. One more important thing an interviewee should remember is that wearing any kind of perfume or body spray is totally prohibited for a good interview (Forbes,2014).
I conclude with an  old saying that  'Perception is a reality'. It is really good to think about the image one could want to formulate during an interview and then choose a dress that will create a positive perception.

Please share your first time interview dressing experience in a comment box.

What It Really Means To Dress For the Success In the Workplace

From Business Prospective

(content.wisestep,2015)

'Dressing' simply means what we wear and how we look in the workplace. Dressing is one major key and idea to make an impression on colleagues and employees for promotion and success. For the first time, in the United States and Europe, the dressing trend became popular in the mid of 1970's and 1980's. Moreover, it is one way to communicate non-verbally, this is so important in the real business world. The way a person dress communicates that person's personality, mood, and professionalism. Furthermore, it depends on the type of job or a work. In some workplaces, one should follow properly signed dressing manuals as in medical or engineering type of jobs, but some jobs allow to wear casual clothes (Angelasancartier,2012).

Taking the further perspective of dressing, John T. Molly describes the "formula for successful dressing" from where one can know that the dress code for men and women usually different, for e.g., men should wear a black and grey dress with simple tie and polished shoes. Women should wear either short or long knee skirts with heels in the business world (Angelasancartier,2012).

To sum up my basic views on dressing, good dressing sense really worthwhile throughout the business career.

In addition to my basic views, I request all the readers to share their views on dressing and to what extent, their workplaces consider dressing important? please leave a comment in a comment box.
